In 2018, Bitcoin lost 84% of its value. Ethereum lost 94%. Thousands of 2017 ICOs went to zero. Only projects with real fundamentals survived.

The January 2018 peak

At the beginning of January 2018, the total crypto market capitalization reached 830 billion dollars. Bitcoin was at 19,000 dollars, Ethereum at 1,400.

The crash and the ICO graveyard

From January 7, 2018, the market did not stop until December 2018. Bitcoin fell to 3,200 dollars (-84%). Over 90% of 2017 ICOs lost 99%+ of their value by 2019.

Lessons

  1. Bear markets separate real projects from simulacra.
  2. Euphoria produces supply excesses.
  3. Surviving a crypto bear market requires a focus on fundamentals.
