[ WHAT TO WATCH ON THE CHART ]
Observe how VWAP behaves relative to key price points. Note moments when the indicator reaches extreme levels and how price reacts. Look for divergence patterns between the indicator and price movement.

What signals does VWAP generate?

Price above VWAP + H4 bullish trend → Only intraday long trades
Price below VWAP + H4 bearish trend → Only intraday short trades
First VWAP retest from above after breakout → Institutional buy zone
Price at VWAP + RSI < 40 + EMA 9 as support → High-probability long entry
Price at +2σ VWAP band with RSI > 70 → Intraday short zone
Open above VWAP + held in first 15 minutes → Confirmed bullish bias for the whole day

What is VWAP and how does it work?

VWAP is the volume-weighted average price from the start of the trading session. It's the most important institutional benchmark for evaluating order execution quality. If a fund buys 1 million shares in a day, its performance is measured against VWAP: executed above VWAP = worse execution than the market average, below VWAP = better execution. This mechanism creates a strong tendency for the market to return to VWAP during the day. Institutional brokers use VWAP algorithms (VWAP algo) that execute orders by distributing them over time to follow VWAP. Understanding this dynamic gives retail traders a huge advantage.

How do you use VWAP in trading?

VWAP is used exclusively for intraday trading: 1) INTRADAY BIAS (the most important): VWAP divides the market into two camps. Above VWAP = buyers are dominating the day, the average price has risen from the open on a volume-weighted basis. Below VWAP = sellers dominate. This bias should align with the longer-term trend (EMA on H4/Daily) for the best trades. 2) DYNAMIC SUPPORT AND RESISTANCE: The first retest of VWAP after a breakout is often the best entry point of the day. After a strong bullish open that takes price far from VWAP, the first return to VWAP is frequently an institutional buy zone. VWAP acts like a magnet: price tends to return to it during the session. 3) VWAP BANDS (standard deviation bands): Many platforms offer VWAP bands at ±1σ, ±2σ, ±3σ. They serve to identify intraday overbought/oversold zones. At the +2σ band, price is statistically far from the day's average — potential short zone. At -2σ, potential long. 4) OPEN ABOVE/BELOW VWAP: When price opens and stays above the previous sessions' VWAP, it's an important strength signal. In gap ups that hold VWAP as support, there's often strong bullish continuation. 5) MULTIPLE VWAP (Rolling): Some traders use weekly and monthly VWAP alongside the daily one for a multi-timeframe view of institutional fair value.
