[ HOW TO READ THE CHART ]
Green Zone: Positive and rising Momentum → Accelerating bullish trend
Red Zone: Positive but falling Momentum → Decelerating bullish trend: caution
Main Line: Momentum cross above 0 → Bullish momentum change
Confluence: Combine Momentum with RSI for maximum probability
[ WHAT TO WATCH ON THE CHART ]
Observe how Momentum behaves relative to key price points. Note moments when the indicator reaches extreme levels and how price reacts. Look for divergence patterns between the indicator and price movement.
[ FORMULA ]
Momentum = Price(t) - Price(t-N)
Percentage version: Momentum = (Price(t) / Price(t-N)) × 100

What signals does Momentum generate?

Positive and rising Momentum → Accelerating bullish trend
Positive but falling Momentum → Decelerating bullish trend: caution
Momentum cross above 0 → Bullish momentum change
Momentum/Price divergence → Possible reversal

What is Momentum and how does it work?

Momentum is the most primitive and direct indicator for measuring the rate of price change: simply the difference between the current price and the price N periods ago. If Momentum is positive and rising, price is not only rising but rising faster and faster. It's the basic concept on which almost all modern oscillators are built. The percentage version (ROC) solves the non-normalization problem.

How do you use Momentum in trading?

Momentum is mainly used to: (1) identify trend accelerations and decelerations — when Momentum starts falling while still positive, the trend is losing strength; (2) divergences with price to anticipate reversals; (3) zero line crosses as momentum changes. Add an EMA to Momentum for clearer cross signals.

What are the strengths of Momentum?

Extremely simple
Effective divergences
Basic concept of all oscillators

What are the limitations of Momentum?

Not normalized: absolute value without fixed scale
Difficult to compare across assets
Little value alone without other tools
